This final rule adopts updated versions of the standards for electronic transactions originally adopted under the Administrative Simplification subtitle of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). This final rule also adopts a transaction standard for Medicaid pharmacy subrogation.

 

March 17, 2009

Effective date for the HIPAA Transaction Rule  with the exception of Medicaid Pharmacy Subrogation section, which is effective January 1, 2010.

 

January 1, 2012

Compliance dates for Version 4010/4010a conversion to Version 5010 and technical reports type 3 and NCPCP Version 5.0 to Version D.0 for, for all covered entities except Medicaid Pharmacy Subrogation Programs which have a January 1, 2013 compliance.
