Introduction to COBRA Notices and Communications

Under COBRA, group health plans must provide employees with specific notices explaining their COBRA rights. For example, employers must notify employees and other qualified beneficiaries of the right to elect COBRA continuation coverage following termination of employment or other qualifying events. Employers and employees also have responsibilities to notify the group health plan of certain qualifying events that would result in a loss of coverage under the plan.
