Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) Notice Requirements

The Affordable Care Act requires group health plans to provide a written Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) to plan participants and beneficiaries containing specific information about the plan and coverage. The SBC must be provided at specified times during the enrollment process and upon request. For insured group coverage, a plan may satisfy the requirement to provide an SBC if the issuer provides a timely and complete SBC to the individual(s) and certain conditions are met.
