Steps When Conducting a Background Check

Employment background checks can include information from a variety of sources, including credit reports and criminal records. When using a third party company who is in the business of compiling background information to run a background check, your company must comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which governs how consumer reports may (or may not) be used in making employment decisions, including hiring, retention, promotion, or reassignment.
